Quilters know the addition of a label to a quilt is just like adding a signature to any other work of art.
Carl’s Grandma M. added a hand embroidered signature to her embroidered quilts for each of our sons. That signature raised the value of each quilt to the level of “treasure” for us.
I recently had the pleasure of embroidering a quilt label for a customer to put on a beautiful handmade quilt.
A label can be as simple as “Made by…” or it can be a meaningful message, as long or as short as you choose. I recommend a simple stitch that looks good on a small scale, too much thread and embellishment tend to make the words unreadable.
